Dr. Claire Jacobs:
Dr. Jacobs is a Clinical Psychologist who sees patients in her private practice office, located on the north side of San Antonio, on the southbound 281 access road, just north of Bitters.  She works with people of all ages, adults, teenagers, and children. 
Dr. Jacobs has over 25 years of experience helping people achieve their personal goals.  Patients describe Dr. Jacobs as friendly, warm, open-minded, optimistic, and compassionate. Dr. Jacobs works with her patients to identify their personal strengths and to help patients learn to use these strengths to address the challenges they're facing and make desired changes in their lives.  She provides constructive feedback in a supportive environment.  Dr. Jacobs' warm and relaxed style, together with her sense of humor, quickly put her patients at ease.
    Dr. Jacobs' eclectic approach to therapy lets her use a broad range of tools, including solution-focusedcognitive-behavioral, and client-centered approaches.  She uses therapeutic strategies chosen for each patient's particular personality style and specific situation.  Many patients benefit from focusing on developing improved coping skills and improved communication techniques.

    Dr. Jacobs completed her B.A. at Rice University with a double major in Psychology and Behavioral Science.  She went on to obtain her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Texas Tech University.  Dr. Jacobs has worked in a variety of mental health settings.  She enjoyed working for more than 10 years at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) where she assisted service members and their families.  She worked at the San Antonio State Hospital where she gained extensive experience working with patients with severe mental illness.  She has spent many years working with patients struggling with a variety of medical problems, including brain injury and strokes, in such settings as University Hospital, Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospital, RIOSA, and Spring Hill Rehabilitation Network.  

    Dr. Jacobs is the consulting psychologist for the Neuropsychology and Rehab Psychology services at the University Hospital System.  In addition, she is Adjunct Clinical Faculty in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio.  She has been a faculty member at the Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) Department of Behavioral Medicine, as well as at St. Mary's University. 
    In addition to her clinical and consulting private practice and university affiliations, Dr. Jacobs has taken leadership positions in a number of professional organizations.  She is past-President of the Bexar County Psychological Association, past-President of the San Antonio Neuropsychological Interest Group, and past-Chair of the Texas Psychological Association Psychopharmacology Special Interest Group. She served as Editor of the Texas Psychological Association's journal, Texas Psychologist, and has served on the boards of the San Antonio Group Psychotherapy Society and the San Antonio Birth Doulas. She has also been a member of the Collaborative Law Institute of Texas.
